Hospice of Hilo gets grant

Hospice of Hilo has received a generous $29,853 grant from the Hawaii Community Foundation’s Organizational Capacity Building Implementation Grant Program. The funds will be used by Hospice of Hilo to build its own in-house email system. “In the Healthcare industry, electronic medical records have become the norm, and email is highly utilized to communicate information among patients, providers and medical billing systems. We really needed to create a highly available, secure and reliable in- house email system to meet our growing needs,” said Hospice of Hilo CEO, Brenda S. Ho.

Hospice of Hilo had been planning the in-house email system for years and much of the infrastructure has already been put in place. “With the help of the Hawaii Community Foundation grant, we are able to make the final push on the project to obtain, install and configure the email system. Hardware and software technology have developed over the years, we plan to take advantage of these advances and build a virtual environment to support current and future operations. We’re so grateful to the Hawai‘i Community Foundation for helping us create a secure and efficient system to support our work and for continually uplifting the community,” said Ho.
